Learn about the principles of Timber Framing. Through theory, demonstrations and hands-on practice-- learn to carve the two fundamental joints in timber framing (the mortise and tenon) and familiarize yourself with square rule layout, design conventions, reading the grain, and using a variety of hand and power tools. No prior power tool experience required but some upper body strength, strong vision and tape measure familiarity will benefit you a lot! You will leave the workshop with a tenon and a mortise checker for any future timber framing projects and the knowledge of how to start a larger project, what tools are necessary, and what resources are out there for deepening your understanding.

The materials fee for this class is $20 and is included in the admission cost.
