Ready to add a handcrafted touch to your home? In this beginner-friendly woodworking class, you will create a beautiful rope-hung shelf unit and learn the skills to install it at home with confidence using a custom French cleat system.

What you’ll learn:

  • How to safely operate a table saw, circular saw, and miter saw to cut your cleat and shelf components.
  • How to apply a non-toxic, VOC-free finish to preserve and enhance the beauty of wood.
  • Measuring and drilling precise holes for rope suspension.
  • Knot tying techniques for secure, elegant shelf support.
  • How to mount your shelf with a beautiful French cleat system for easy installation.

This project blends practical woodworking with a touch of rustic charm—perfect for organizing books, plants, or cozy storage bins. You’ll leave with a fully assembled shelf and the know-how to hang it at home with pride. Please note: this workshop includes two sessions, and you are advised to bring a smock, apron, or paint clothes to the first session to avoid staining your nice clothing. Also note: the grey storage cubes pictured are not included, but the shelf unit can fit up to 8 11.5" cubes!

No prior experience needed. All materials provided. Come ready to measure, saw, drill, tie, and hang! Leave with a finished project!

The materials fee for this class is $35 and is included in the admission cost.
